Julie, 53 Years Old
I had my first bad pap smear in my early 40’s. I am 53 now. I was told that I had severe dysplasia. The initial diagnosis really scared me. However, it seemed like my doctor had everything under control. I had an excellent doctor at the time and really trusted him. I initially had the colposcopy for further diagnosis and then the conization. Once everything was over with, my doctor told me that all of the bad cells were gone and that I should not be worried.
And I didn’t worry for a while. Until five years later when I had another bad pap smear. This time the diagnosis was carcinoma in situ. Again I had to undergo the colposcopy followed by the conization. Once again, my doctor told me that the treatment had worked and I had nothing to worry about.
Having gone through this experience twice, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was sick of dealing with it. It had really scared me. What if it had not been caught in time and my cells had advanced? I would have definitely had something to worry about then.
I have always put a great deal of faith in homeopathic medicine. So I researched ways to apply homeopathic medicine to my current situation. I looked for ways to reverse dysplasia. I used chaparral for three months. Three times daily I drank Bancha tea. I drank carrot juice. I consumed marine carotenes and folic acid. I started eating more fruits and vegetables than ever before. It all paid off. My next set of test results from the doctor reported that my cells were now microscopic. Plus, I felt better than I had in years.
Everything was great for the next four years until out of the blue I had unexpected vaginal bleeding. It was highly unexpected, as I had already gone through menopause. I saw the doctor the following week for a pap smear. My pap smear was abnormal. This time it was shortly followed by an endometrial biopsy. When the results were back, I was told I had cervical cancer. You would think that having gone through this twice before; I would have been more prepared. Nothing can prepare you for a diagnosis like that. I didn’t hear much that the doctor told me after that. All I remember him telling me was that my chances of survival were excellent and that I would need a hysterectomy.
Before my surgery, I consulted a homeopathic doctor for advice. She suggested that I take wheat grass tablets, vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenes, red fruits, carrot juice, and CoEnzymeQ10. I was told that these things would promote recovery and help to prevent side effects of anesthesia.
Not too long after I started my homeopathic regimen, I had my hysterectomy. Everything went as well as it can for having your female organs removed. When I went to the doctor for my follow up exam, I was told I would need radiation as well.
I hated the idea of radiation. I had heard so many bad things about it. I had talked to people who had gone through radiation and had lots of problems. I ended up having the radiation anyway, as it was the best thing for me.
I have been completely in the clear for four years now. I don’t take that for granted at all. I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy life. Having cancer makes you look at things a lot differently.
