Beverly, 38 Years Old
A diagnosis of Cervical Cancer was the last thing I had ever expected to hear. I have always been a health fanatic. I jog three miles four times a week. I eat a sufficient amount of fruits and vegetables everyday. I take a multivitamin just to make sure that I get what I need.
When my pap results came back abnormal two years ago, it surprised me but I didn’t freak out about it. I figured it was just one of those things. My doctor told me that I would require a colposcopy so that they could find out why my pap smear had been abnormal. She acted like it was fairly routine and since she didn’t seem worried I didn’t worry too much either.
The colposcopy results definitely got my attention. I was told that I had Stage III endocervical adenocarcinoma. In other words, I had Cervical Cancer! I stared at my doctor in disbelief for what seemed like an hour. I finally asked her what I would have to do about this. She went on to explain that I would need to have chemotherapy and internal and external radiation because of the stage of cancer that I was in.
I got through my treatment really well. It wasn’t any fun, but I just kept the attitude that I would remain strong and fight it.
I added some homeopathic remedies to my regular treatment. When I received my diagnosis, I began taking an antioxidant. After my treatment was over, I began taking CoQ10. Both of these can act to boost the immune system. I have always been a very spiritual person, so I have relied on meditation and visualization to help me through this.
I’m doing great and I am feeling healthy. I think that mindset has a lot to do with fighting cancer. If you think that you can overcome it, then you can. I know I did.
